Progress in your Process

Dear Daughter,

The seed is planted now watch it grow.

Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

Matthew 13:31-32 NKJV

This is what God wants us, His daughters to know.

Conditions for a Seed

Here in Chapter 13, Jesus gives another parable related to sowing. Seed sowing is quite interesting. You take something so itty bitty and put it in dirt then…you hope. You hope that all the conditions will be just right to yield a harvest from that itty bitty seed you planted. You hope that the sun will beam radiantly on the spot where your seed is covered by the earth. You pray that you remember to water this seed on the days when rain is absent. You believe that you will soon see the fruit of your labor, It is a process.

We can compare this to our lives. We all have seeds planted inside of us. Each time we consume the Word of God a new seed is being planted within the soil of our heart (Luke 8:11; Matthew 13:19 NKJV).

A seed isn’t meant to stay a seed. A seed is suppose to produce. The word of God should get down in our hearts and sprout. It should grow roots that keep us connected to the Spirit of God. It should grow to provide hope for others.

It is difficult to see the fruit of our labor when the conditions of our soil (hearts) are not right. We have to be watered. We have to have the Sun (Son of God). We have to have our leaves inspected and our gardens protected.

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

Proverbs 4:23 NLT

Where are My Branches

Have you ever wondered why you feel stagnant? Have you ever dealt with the feeling of complacency? There are times my social media will remind me of the previous years memory and unfortunately, not much has changed.

Those moments feel like a huge disappointment. It feels like a pause in my process.

I desire to grow. Each year I desire to be a better version of myself. I want to be the version of me that is identified through Christ. Yet, year after year i’m left wondering…where are my branches? Where are my leaves? Where is my growth? Where am I, in this process?

“I should be a tree by now, but I have yet to break the surface of the soil,” this is what I think to myself.

Then I am reminded that growth doesn’t look the same to the naked eye as it does to God. Have you ever looked at a child that is around 10-11 years old, but you can’t get past them being 5 years old, what feels like yesterday? They have branches now, they have grown.

Growth isn’t visible suddenly because it’s happening gradually.

Small Seed, Small Faith

Honestly it would be dishonest for me to tell you I’ve always had this colossal amount of faith. I have struggled to have “mustard seed faith” more times than I can count. What is mustard seed faith?

“You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.”—Matthew 17:20

A mustard seed is extremely small. It is about 1-2 millimeters in diameter. If it was laying on the floor it would be hard to see and easy to miss.

Yet, God is telling us that this is equivalent to the size of faith we need to move mountains. This is the size of faith we need to see the movement of God. How can anybody struggle to have that small amount of faith? Easy…life.

Rooted & Grounded

Life is going to life. Disappointments will come. Setbacks will come. Frustration will come, but you have to remember it’s all apart of your process. You wont always see where you are in the process, but if you believe that God will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:8), you’re making progress. You are growing and don’t even recognize it. When we grow, the Kingdom of God grows.

Have you spent time with Jesus? Have you cultivated your relationship with Him? Have you accepted Him as Lord and Savior of your life? If not, let’s start there. If so, Great! The most important part of your process is happening! You are developing roots.

And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.

Colossians 2:6-7

Your roots are growing and being established. When you are rooted in Christ, you are unmovable and unshakeable. Remember, the roots have to be established first.

Congratulations sis, you are making progress in the mist of your processes. Keep growing 🌳.
