Confidence is an essential value for each one of us to obtain. Having confidence in yourself simply means that you believe you will accomplish anything that you set your mind to do. When you are confident in yourself you have surpassed the idea of believing that others have to believe in you in order for you to succeed. Confidence is key. With confidence you will push yourself to reach higher ground. You will motivate yourself to keep going even when the waves of the sea begin to crash harder than they ever have before. I have not always been confident in myself. I will be the first to admit that. I have not always enjoyed what I saw while looking in the mirror… in fact I use to avoid looking in the mirror too long because I knew I would find flaws. I knew I would find something, anything to break what little confidence I did have.
However, today I have confidence. I am confident that I will make it. I am confident that I will survive. I will survive because I have the will to survive. I have the right to hold the “key” of confidence. With this special key I have been able to unlock a door. This door held all of my fears, concerns and doubt. Now is the time for me to face all of those monsters head on and transcend to a greater, uplifting place. NOW is the time for me to tap in to what I have learned by accepting this key of confidence and become better. I know what not to be afraid of. I know not to underestimate my physical and/or spiritual strength when times get tough. I know not to worry about things outside of my control. I will survive.
When you can look back over your life, pinpoint particular moments and say “WOW! That was the day I thought my life was over.” Only to realize you pushed past that and it was not as bad as you thought. How many of those moments can you think of? Somewhere you found the drive…the confidence you needed to move past that moment. You kept going and did not fold. You may have been close to giving up, but you did not give up. So DO NOT do it now! DO NOT make an excuse for why you will not make that change that needs to be made. DO NOT make an excuse for why you can not let go of the past. Find that same confidence that you once were familiar with.
With all that being said, DO NOT make room in your life for negative thoughts to creep in and take root. This is where we slowly begin to tread in dangerous waters. Instead of being confident in our ability to defeat things that were sent to destroy us, we lose confidence. We give up before the battle begins. God has given you and me the tools we need to survive. Be confident before the battle. Be confident during the battle. Most importantly be confident after the battle because it will not be your last one. You have your own cape, so go be your own hero. With confidence, faith and wisdom may we ALL continue to walk through this life with our head held high. Because you and me… we will survive.
